Seeing new features on video conferencing tools such as Microsoft Teams makes my meetings more efficient. For instance, there is the Together Mode, which enables me to arrange other participants in a theater-like setting, making it appear that I am sitting together with them.
Unfortunately, when I try to access Together Mode again on Microsoft Teams, it seems grayed out or unavailable.Â
How Do I Fix Problem with Together Mode Not Available During Microsoft Teams Video Meetings?
Trying various methods to troubleshoot the error when using Together Mode on Microsoft Teams helped in resolving the issue. Here are some of the solutions you can try for yourself if you are facing the same problem.
Method #1 – Enable the New Meeting Experience
Together Mode is part of Microsoft Teams New Meeting Experience feature. To utilize the tool, you need to turn on the New Meeting Experience function.
- Navigate your way to the Settings menu of Microsoft Teams.
- Select General.
- Look for the Turn On New Meeting Experience found under Application and check the box.
- Relaunch your Microsoft Teams app.
I cannot access the New Meeting Experience on Microsoft Teams, so what should I do? It depends on your account status. If your account shows a Status Unknown, it will render the feature as inaccessible. You must switch your account to Available first then try again.
However, if it does not work, try changing your status to Available and logout your account. And then, you can try again.
Method #2 – Check the Number of Participants
You can only enable Together Mode when you have at least 4 participants joining the call. But, make sure you also have a maximum of 49 people joining in to continue using the feature. Otherwise, it will only remain grayed out.
Method #3 – Turn On Large Gallery View
- During a call, tap or click on the three dotted icon.
- Choose the Large Gallery option.
Method #4 – Update your Microsoft Teams App
Together Mode was launched last February 2024. If you haven’t installed the latest version of Microsoft Teams, it can be the cause of your dilemma. You can check if there are available updates by going to your profile icon and selecting Check for Updates.
Wrapping Up!
Having problems with Microsoft Teams disrupted my meetings. But, fixing them helped me get back on what I need to do. Try the methods above, so that you can focus more on your calls.
